How to Play
Your goal is to come up with the best background story for the chosen rumor being spread around town to get crowned the Rumor Freak
1
Each player selects a character and places its corresponding Character Card in front of them, along with a marker.
2
A random player begins the game by saying, “Rumor has it…” and selects one card from each deck, placing them face up in the following order to complete the rumor: WHO > DID WHAT > WHO > SPICY DETAIL. This player is now the “active player”.
3
Start the sand timer. All players (including the active player) have 1 minute to come up with a scenario and a background story for the rumor (why it happened, how things ended up that way, secret motives, or whatever you like). Be as bizarre and disturbing as you can be. Keep notes on your Dry-Erase Card so that you don’t forget.
4
Once the timer runs out, each player unravels their story, starting with the active player and moving clockwise. Try to be as convincing as you can and persuade everyone you have the real story.
5
Each player votes on the best rumor presented by writing the name of the character on their Dry Erase card. No voting for yourself!
6
Once everyone has written their votes down, see who has the most votes. Points are awarded by how many votes the character received. If the vote is unanimous, the winner receives one extra point.
7
Circle the number of points you received on the number line of your Character Card and update it after every round to keep track of your total points.
8
With each new round, another player becomes the “active player”.
9
Gameplay ends when all players have had a turn at being “active player” (when playing with 5-6 people) OR two turns (when playing with 3-4).
10
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins the title of Freak of the Town !
